Publishing Huber Astrological Psychology Books

Summary of HopeWell Books History

Post by Barry Hopewell. This is the final post of a series of 16 posts, telling the story of the creation of the English Language books about Huber Astrology. The complete series is shown in approximate date order:

Other Huber Works

Bruno & Louise Huber produced many publications as part of the ongoing work of the Astrological Psychology Institute 1983-2009. Much of this material was generated from transcripts of talks and eventually appeared in published books in German by API Verlag. All of these published books were eventually published in English by HopeWell, with but two exceptions.

The Unfinished Glossarium

The first volume of Bruno Huber’s encyclopaedic Astro Glossarium, an ambitious work aiming to cover the history of astrology, was published in German in 1995.

Unfortunately, intended further volumes of this work were not completed before Bruno died. It was not felt worth publishing the resulting partial history in English.

Other papers and documents

API and the English and Spanish Huber Schools also produced other documents and papers which never made it to publication in book form. Many of these appeared in the magazine AstroLog, which is still being published in German by IFAP. We have already mentioned the two volumes of material translated from AstroLog as a result of Agnes Shellens’ bequest. Some other papers are available as resources on this website.

The One That Got Away

Louise Huber’s book on the Reflections and Meditations on the Signs of the Zodiac was published in English in 1984, not by Samuel Weiser but by the American Federation of Astrologers. We considered this to be an excellent book, but with a rather poor translation and presentation. So during the 2000s we offered to AFA and Louise to produce a better text with new illustrations. Louise was happy, but no deal could be reached with AFA, so we abandoned the project.
