The Seven Rays Seminar 1998

During the 1980s and 1990s Bruno & Louise Huber held regular seminars in England in collaboration with the English Huber School. The last such workshop before Bruno’s death in 1999 was on ‘Astrology and the Seven Rays’, at the Beacon Centre near Exeter, from 30th August to 2nd September 1998. This was the Hubers’ first workshop in English focusing on the more esoteric connections of astrological psychology and attracted a large attendance.

I recall it well. Bruno was clearly not in the best of health and needed to take regular periods of rest. When he did speak it was with great authority and clarity on such deep matters. Louise also showed great depth of knowledge of the spiritual path of transformation.

The event did not always run smoothly from the organisers’ perspective. Joyce had to dash in her car with Bruno to Exeter airport to pick up luggage which had been lost and contained the only copies of all the Hubers’ acetate slides. Barry set off the hotel’s alarm system when setting out for an early morning run, waking the whole hotel in the process. And there were extensive negotiations to arrange for the Huber’s lift to Heathrow for their return journey. But it was all worthwhile for what proved to be an inspirational event.

The Hubers’ teaching on Astrology and the Seven Rays provides a unique and valuable synthesis in bringing together and marrying astrology with psychosynthesis and their common esoteric roots. Many of those present felt it important to make this teaching more widely available. A team comprising Joyce Hopewell, Barry Hopewell, Richard Llewellyn, David Kerr, and Jane Kerr laboriously transcribed audio recordings of each of the sessions, and the result was first published as an internally available booklet by API(UK). This was eventually translated into German and published, with additional material by Louise Huber, as Astrologie und die Sieben Strahlen by API-Verlag in 2006.

I guess that it was this experience of editing that provided the foundation for my later work as editor of the subsequently formed publisher HopeWell.

Louise’s revisions were subsequently translated into English and incorporated into a revised version of the booklet text, which was published in 2007 as the sixth of HopeWell’s growing series of books – Astrology and the Seven Rays.

Astrology and the Seven Rays

Astrology and the Seven Rays was dedicated to the memory of Bruno Huber, a true server of mankind, who brought light where there was darkness, and helped many along the way.

This is the first of series of posts featuring the development of the series of books on astrological psychology in the English language, published by HopeWell.
