Documenting The Aspect Patterns

The understanding of the psychological meaning of the aspect patterns in a birth chart was one of the revolutionary changes introduced by Bruno & Louise Huber in their new system of Astrological Psychology, or Huber Astrology as it came to be called.

The Hubers delayed publishing their revolutionary book on the aspect patterns until it was affordable with colour printing. Aspektbild Astrologie was eventually published in German in 1999, the year that Bruno Huber died. Before this time, the major Huber works had been translated and published by Samuel Weiser in the US, but it seemed that Weiser had moved on and was no longer interested.

This gave the English Huber School a dilemma, as only parts of the material were available in English, incorporated in the Diploma Course. Joyce and I discussed the situation with Louise and Michael Huber during their visit to Wales in 2003. Because of our understanding of ‘print-on-demand’ technology with the Cosmic Egg Timer, we could see that, if we could get the material translated, we had a possible route to publishing the work.

Louise and Michael were a bit sceptical because this route would not initially give us a book in colour, which they considered to be essential. We eventually persuaded them that we could publish in black-and -white with the addition of optional bookmarks which would show all the aspects in colour. We agreed to jointly fund translation and publishing.

Richard Llewellyn put us in touch with a German-English translator, Heather Ross, and we agreed to proceed, with Barry as editor. Aspect Pattern Astrology was duly published, with optional colour bookmarks, early 2005. This has since proved to be a Huber best seller.

First edition, in black-and-white.

The colour bookmarks were all very well, but relied on the Astrological Psychology Association bookshop for sales, so were not widely used. Within a few years, the cost equation had changed, and we realised that a shorter book could prove economical in colour. Joyce wrote an overview and reference, including all the recognised aspect patterns in colour. Joyce’s Aspect Patterns in Colour was published in English in 2010, and was made available on Kindle in 2012.

In full colour, available in paperback and on Kindle.

Aspect Patterns in Colour remains a valuable quick reference to all the aspect patterns.

By 2019 technology had again moved on and it proved financially feasible to publish a second edition of Aspect Pattern Astrology in full colour, finally realising the Hubers’ original vision. We took the opportunity to make minor editorial changes and use a new cover image. In addition to the paperback, we were also able to publish a more expensive hardback version of this popular Huber work.

Second edition, in colour.
