We are grateful to our friends at IFAP in their August 2023 newsletter, and to the DeepL Translator, for the following description of Michael Huber’s contribution to API and astrological psychology. These things were not very visible to us here in the UK. The piece is written by Angelica Kraft, one of the Astrolog editorial team.
On 27.07.2023 Michael left the visible, material plane in the circle of his family in Switzerland and entered the spiritual world.
He helped to shape the Huber Method in many areas, did his own research and put the contents into a visual form for the next generations. We owe a lot to Michael: the house horoscope, the exact calculations and visualisation of the dynamic calculations, with the description of different types, the age point biography, in which he researched and made visible the psychological perception and duration of effect of planets.
Accompanying the API courses, he developed study folders for all basic and advanced courses, which teachers could use in their teaching. In addition, there are study folders from him for special courses such as AP Biography – Life Course Analysis with the two age points, Frustration and Stress Diagrams – Dynamic Counting, Aspect Figure Astrology, to name but a few.
His years of research into aspect figures finally found their way into the textbook Aspect Pattern Astrology, which was first published in German in 1999. He created the pair honeycomb for a quick and clear partner comparison. The pair rockers show apt themes that play a role in clicks in partner comparison.
Michael grew up with astrology, psychology and esoteric background with parents who were totally dedicated to serving humanity. At the age of 4, he moved with his parents to Florence, to Roberto Assagioli. He witnessed his parents doing research, therapy and study. In 1968, when he was 13 years old, his parents founded the API, with the first evening course Bruno Huber gave in Zurich.
From the age of 12, Michael drew horoscopes for his parents. As a teenager, he began to do his own research. He observed people, their behaviour and asked himself why some people are perceived so differently by their environment than they know themselves to be. This later led to the discovery of the house horoscope.
In 1974 he was co-founder of the API publishing house, from 1976 he was a teacher in the API Institute, and from 1978 as an astrological consultant.
Michael founded a family with his wife and long-time partner Perla Huber-Sicher and became the father of 4 children. Together Perla and he completed psychosynthesis training with David Bach. They gave courses in astrological psychology, participated in the counsellor training as teachers and ran the API book distribution.
During the weeks of counsellor training in Achberg, Michael could be seen sitting by the pool with one of the children on the blanket playing. Or he would stand behind the book table and give sensitive, experienced and friendly tips for reading. In the evening, he often delighted the students gathered around a campfire with his guitar pieces. And on the final evening of the two weeks, there was always a magic show by Michael and Perla and a dance party.
Many of us know Michael as a teacher of Astrological Psychology, didactically gifted and drawing on profound substance, he passed on his knowledge and experience to us. After Bruno Huber’s death, he took over the management of the API with his mother Louise Huber at the end of 1999.
During this time, intensive work took place in Spain, where he taught many people astrological psychology and trained teachers.
