Research on Archives at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in Florence – Part 2

Continuation of John Grove’s researches at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, Florence, Italy. John describes two significant documents found in the Archives at the Institute, indicating Bruno’s thinking at that time when Astrological Psychology was being conceived.

Documents found
1. Planetary diagram

This diagram addressed how planetary factors may affect personality development.

The pictograph, headed The Threefold Personality, describes
Tool planets: Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter;
Transcendental planets: Uranus Neptune, and Pluto;
and the developmental Ego planets: Saturn, the Moon, and the Sun.

The figure graphically illustrates the interaction between three types of planetary energies.  And shows a hierarchy for development of personality.

On the left side are the blue tool planet glyphs that are unconscious and work behind the scenes in the development of the personality and refer to instincts.

The orange-colored planet glyphs:   Saturn, Moon and Sun are the ego planets that are related to: Saturn – safety: Moon – a sense of belonging; and the Sun – the ability to make decisions and to think logically.

The purple-colored planet glyphs are the three transcendent planets:
Uranus which has to do with inspiration and opening the door to new vistas;
Neptune the path of universal love which connects us to all humans;
and Pluto, that drive that goes beyond the ego for manifestation of the Divine will on a universal level.

2. Interpretation method

I searched the archives and nearly quit without success until on the final day, I found the following document which was written in German.  I was offered the help of Marion Mensing, a native German speaker to translate it. All the verbal descriptions on the page are translated with her help.

This is a description of the method Bruno Huber used at that time to interpret the horoscope to produce a spiritually oriented reading based on birth date, time and place of individuals:

I. Character analysis – Basic Life Horoscope

  1. Simple exploration
  2. More detailed explanation
  3. Esoteric explanation – Soul-and spiritual wisdom – Esoteric Tradition
  4. Great life destiny analysis; developmental tendencies through time (?? Beginning of Age Point Progression)
  5. Existential analysis – individual aspects as taken from 1,2,3,4 in summary

II. Personal discussion of horoscope

Drawing of birth chart image (?? Colors, visual and perceptive image as a whole)

III. Prognosis

Progressions/ Transits understanding: NOT predictive
Advice for psychological spiritual development

IV. Later analysis

1. Annual horoscope = Transits, detailed Time analysis

2. Five-year horoscope – Large Overview

Thus, we are now able to see some of Bruno Huber’s initial thoughts on consultation using what became later known as the Huber Method of Astrological Psychology.
