This time is different

I do not like to give further publicity to one whose whole aim in life appears to be to court publicity, positive or negative, it does not seem to matter. However, given current events I could not resist taking a look at Donald J. Trump’s current Age Point.

Aspects of Trump’s psychology have already been covered in four posts on this blog.

Here I am just considering his Age Point at time of inauguration, as shown by the circled blue cross in the chart.The Age Point is just into the 2nd house, just into sign Libra, and imminently approaching the planet Neptune.

The 2nd house is the house of possessions, and Trump does now indeed appear obsessed with the possessions of the USA, with which he has personally identified. Libra is the archetypal planet of ‘balance’, which seems to fit well with his fabled obsession with ‘deals’.

At its lowest level Neptune is the planet of mists, illusion, evasion. The devious recent onscreen ambush of Ukraine’s president Vlodymyr Zelenskyy appears to provide a good example.

Neptune is square Mercury in an otherwise disconnected linear aspect figure which includes Pluto. This might suggest that Trump is now coming from a very different and maybe more erratic place than in his first presidency. The first weeks of the current presidency have certainly been pretty Plutonic, with dramatic transformation of US institutions and role in the world.

In about two years time, roughly aligned with the midterm elections, we may see a reversion to the patterns of the first Trump presidency, as Jupiter takes over from Neptune as a dominating influence and reconnects him with the main aspect figures.

It is also interesting to note that the Age Point was passing over Mercury around 2008, the year of the Financial Crash – which is said to be the significant event that led to the rise of the Tea Party, the radicalization of the Republican Party against ‘elites’ and immigration and the rise of Donald Trump’s presidential ambitions! One viewpoint would be that Trump was destined to be the tool to play out the results of that great disaster.

    Clear and succinct, unfortunately. And with his secondary progressed Mercury moving to Mars conjunct it re-enforces his massive stressed 12th/1st house Mars ego drive. His progressed Mars is now in Libra, though, its detriment, leaving a lot of reckless desires yet lacking an effective Mars to deliver with. I remember John Frawley speaking to how progressions were used in the old days. If a king summoned the astrologer for advice when he wanted to launch a war on a neighbouring country the astrologer would (keeping all things simple and practical) look at what Mars is up to and see it’s entering its detriment in about two years or so: “Sure, go ahead and attack but wrap it up within two years.”

      Thanks for that comment, Mark. Yes, that stressed Leo Mars is a key factor in the chart, reflected in current events. Fascinating comment on the progressed Mars!
